In this course I combine techniques gathered from my training and certification as a Relational Somatic Therapist, an Internal Family Systems practitioner (parts work), as well as years of self study in mindfulness.

What is Self-Compassion?

Compassion is something we hear about a lot.

But what is it really?

The way I have come to experience it is that we don’t create compassion. We can’t ‘make it happen’. However there are practices that help us access a state where compassion enters.

Compassion is available. Everywhere. The work of Embodying Self-Compassion is the work of opening to that which is already here.

There is a process for this opening, and it is what you will learn in this 6-week Embodying Self-Compassion course.

While this course stands alone as deep and life transforming work, it will also have an optional second component, to be launched at a later date, that is the full Radical Liberation Technique.

Learning this process will give you an opportunity to have a different relationship with difficulty.

When you change your relationship with difficulty, you allow grace to enter.

Turning Inward

Are you having trouble opening to Self-Compassion?

If so, please know that it’s not your fault. This doesn’t say anything about you as a person. Put simply, we weren’t taught how to do this.

Let’s be real. Turning inward can be an uncomfortable experience when it goes against a lifetime of training that has taught us to turn outward.

We live in a culture that says “fulfill and fix yourself externally.” If you are uncomfortable, buy something or eat something or work harder at something. Do something, ANYTHING, to get rid of that feeling.

We are averse to discomfort because the system that this culture is built on says “don’t be uncomfortable,” while simultaneously setting us up to be over worked, under-rested and aiming for a kind of unattainable ‘self improvement.’ It’s a set up.

Here’s the paradox though: when we stop trying to not feel bad, and instead turn inward and just feel what we are feeling, we end up feeling better. The sustainable kind of better that is fed from within rather than grasped for without.

So this is what we are going to practice going forward. There’s no magic pill (magic pills don’t exist). Embodying Self-Compassion is a practice, and you can do it.

Who This Course Is For

You’ve been investing in self-study for a while, and want something a little new, a little juicy.

You struggle with negative self-talk. You want to be kind to yourself but don’t know how or where to start. The concept of self-compassion seems abstract, and you are looking for a more tangible experience.

You have a developed internal practice, and are ready to dig into the nuance of the process.

You are tired of your regular, reactionary routine, and want to free yourself from those cyclical inner behaviours and patterns. You want to free up your energy, vitality and creativity.

Hi, I’m Jessie

Your devoted guide for radical liberation.

My intention is simply to share the things that have helped me along my path of living. This process of Embodying Self-Compassion is like rocket fuel for a sustainable, good life and for other therapeutic practices you have. It has brought a softness and grace to my most important relationship - the one with me!

When I started practicing this process, I noticed that I could move through much more in my own counselling sessions. I then brought it into my everyday life, applied it, and found that when I needed to move through something and I could turn towards this practice, it freed me.

Then I brought pieces of this to my clients and we started seeing great results.

Now it’s time to bring it into groups and to share it further!

Embodying Self-Compassion has changed my relationship with myself, for the better, and I want everyone to have that.

When we practice self-compassion, we have more inner peace. And when we have more inner peace, we can create community peace. When we create community peace, we create more global peace. At this time in our lives—in humanity—peace is essential. This is why I’m teaching this course.

How The Course Works

An intimate group of
up to 19 people spending
2 hours online together each week for
6 weeks.

Classes will be held on

All classes are recorded, so if you need to miss one you can watch the material on your own time. I request that any missed classes are watched before the next class resumes as they are sequential.

The recordings will be available to view for 3 months after the course concludes.

Week 1 will be an opportunity for introductions: to each other, to the course material.

Weeks 2-5 will focus on each progressing step of the Embodying Self-Compassion process: you will add one building block at a time, and can practice over the course of the week, allowing for more easeful and effective nervous system integration. There will also be an opportunity for Live Coaching during these sessions. If you are feeling stuck, or if you notice you are speaking unkindly to yourself, you will have the opportunity to engage in the process with Jessie’s guidance. Live Coaching offers the opportunity for everyone to learn, both participant and observers!

Week 6 will be an opportunity for reflections: at this point you will have devoted nearly two months of your precious energy to embodying self-compassion. There will be much to share!

  • Embodying Self-Compassion is part 1 of a 2-part process called the Radical Liberation Technique.

    The Radical Liberation Technique (RLT)  is a therapeutic process into embodying the courage and willingness to look at and meet our own unique internal edges. RLT is a practical, step by step process that guides us into deeper presence. It gives us an easy-to-follow set of tools to use when things feel tricky. Because, let’s face it, being human is tricky. And we can take these opportunities to push farther away from self and others OR we can take these opportunities to come into connection with self and others. 

    RLT guides us through peeling back the possible layers of internalized shame and hurt, and for meeting the most challenging, pained and precious parts of ourselves with loving compassion. This frees our energy, our attention, and our ability to love. 

    Ultimately, it means loving our whole selves and each other so hard that we are inspired to enliven our imaginations, celebrate the beauty around us, and create new ways of living with each other.

    Practicing this technique will not  instantly, radically liberate us. But it will support us in expanding our ability to experience freedom and belonging.
